V-Bit Depth Calculator

This calculator can be used to determine how deep a v-bit will cut for a given cut-width.

VBit Depth Calculator

  • Please enter a number from 1 to 160.
    Enter the inclusive bit angle, so a bit advertised as 30 degrees would be entered as 30. This is different to how Carbide Create expects the angle, where you enter half the stated angle, or the angle between the shank and a single flute.
  • Please enter a number from 0 to 2.
    Enter the total cut width in inches as marked X in the diagram to the left. For Carbide Create you can estimate using the grid and examining the widest part of your cut.

V-Bit Offset Calculator

This calculator will work out the offset to cut away from a profile line so that the bit itself will cut on the profile line for a flat-bottomed vcarving.
